Oh What a Night!
Apr 20th

Friday got a bit messy didn’t it?
We presented our first show of 2010 at The Victoria and raised over £300 for Oxfam. Over a hundred of you turned up to say ‘I’m a Sister’, and yes we have the photos to prove it, whilst we showcased Brum’s finest female fronted bands. Thanks to Jodi for holding the night together. You also scoffed all of the delightful cake courtesy of Simarjeet, Vlad and Cherry Sprinkles. And once the wonderful live music had finished we all danced till we dropped to those wonderful ATTA girl DJs.
We’re still trying to recover if we’re honest, and did someone take our ‘I’m a Sister’ spot home to have a rest? It was looking a bit worse for wear towards the end! Frisbee anyone?
Regional Events Campaigner: Music
Mar 8th
Exciting news… this Oxfam internship: “Regional Events Campaigner: Music” is still open!
We’re looking for an enthusiastic person to grow Oxfam’s Campaigning presence in the Midlands music scene.
The position is 2-4 days a week from 22 March – November 2010. It is voluntary but expenses are reinbursed.
This position will involve managing Local Event Campaigns Coordinators in key towns and cities who will in turn manage their own teams of Event Campaigners. You will help develop an overall campaigns outreach strategy, help local Coordinators research potential event opportunities, and with larger events and festivals also help to manage Oxfam’s presence.
You will need to work closely with staff and volunteers working on community and student activism, and the annual Oxjam festival.
So, if your passionate about campaigning for Oxfam and the Midlands Music scene, give Charli Livingstone a call but you’ll have to be quick! Interviews are being held on Wednesday 10 March so if you are keen.

Sounds pretty good eh? Now all we need is a name . . . can you help? We want something that sums up the essence of the event; that our local female artists are coming together to highlight the difficulties and poverty poorer women experience.
So suggest a brilliant name in the comments section of this blog post for our event and you could win 2 tickets. OxjamBrum presents . . . you decide!
