Oxjambrum Goes To Moseley Folk Festival
Sep 2nd
We’ll be out and about with our friends at Oxfam at Moseley Folk Festival this weekend so grab your sun hat and a smile and come say hello at our stand. We’ll be discussing Oxfam’s main campaigns and painting up blue faces. Fancy a blue folk beard-moustache combo – we’re the people to see!
Also, we’re giving you the opportunity to win a very special prize! Moseley Folk Festival is very proud to support OxjamBrum and Oxfam so they are pinning up a giant t-shirt in their signing tent and getting as many famous folkers to sign it as possible. We’ll be selling tickets for this prize at our stand.
The Oxjambrum Big Busk
Aug 30th
WOW! Thank you to everyone who took part or donated to the Oxjam Brum Big Busk this Friday! Simarjeet, Kimberley and David from the Oxjam Brum team were joined by several hugely talented buskers and willing volunteers. We made a song and dance (literally, at one point!) across the city centre and raised NEARLY £200!!
The cash is going towards our flagship event on the 24th October which is all about raising money and awareness for Oxfam and their Here and Now Climate Change campaign.
Good times!

Oxfam Shirley Sign Up to Oxjam!
Aug 6th
Today I popped in to meet some of the staff and volunteers from the Oxfam shop on the Stratford Road in Shirley. They’re dead keen on getting involved with Oxjam and we’ve pencilled them in for a Fun Day at their shop on Saturday 3rd October. Watch this space for more details!! Huge love and hugs to Jo and George for their enthusiasm and ideas :O)
In the meantime, on Saturday 22nd August from 7pm to 9pm they’re hosting a Fashion Show (mens and womens!) which cost just £2, so get on down to Shirley and support the ‘fam!

How You Can Get Involved!
Aug 5th
OK folks, so you’ve been reading about Oxjam, maybe you’ve seen a blue face or three, seen one of our badges, whatever it is… but now you’re wondering what you can do to help? Look no further than this wonderful blog post!
Oxjam Brum is holding a big event on Saturday 24th October… BUT! We are looking for event organisers to put on mini-Oxjam events all over the city throughout the month of October.
Here’s a few ideas:
- Charity gig night at your local pub
- Karaoke party at your local pub, or even in your front room!
- Fancy dress night – come dressed as your favourite pop star
- Workplace day – pay £1 to wear something blue / dress down
- Sponsored XXXXXXX – let your imagination run wild!
- Run an Oxjam stall – any fetes or events in your area?
We’re also getting involved with schools and community groups to really highlight Oxjam’s “Here and Now” climate change campaign.
There’s a whole team of us here at Oxjam Brum HQ able to support you with help, advice, volunteers, publicity, even blue face paint! So you will not be on your own.
Whatever your idea, please do get in touch.
Blue Faces at Surface this weekend!
Jul 28th
OxjamBrum will be out and about paining blue faces this Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at the West Midlands part of the Surface Unsigned Festival. If you are going come and say hi, get your face painted and make a small donation.
We’ll even take your photo and put them on our website so you too could be famous!
All the bands look great but we are keeping a special eye on Start the Hourglass, as they have promised to get the blue face treatment!
Ahhhh Fabulous Prizes!
Jul 20th
Over at OxjamBrum HQ we are getting a little giddy about the Gin Parlour. On Friday, from 5pm onwards, we will be upstairs at The Jekyll and Hyde. We plan to paint up some blue faces and drop some hints about the festival in October.
But in addition we wanted to give you the chance to win some wonderful prizes:
- Harvey Nichols, darling, have kindly donated a bottle of HN champage
- Courtesy of our friends at Broad Street Business Improvement District we have four tickets to see Frank Skinner in Birmingham on 1st August. Watch the grand final of the Comedy Callback competition and be one of a limited number of people to see comedian Frank Skinner be presented with his walk of star honour live on stage
- With thanks to The Electric Cinema we also have a sofa for two voucher, to see a film of your choice
There are also 2 for 1 cocktails until 7pm and talk of the boys concocting up something pretty special just for OxjamBrum.
See you there!
Blue Faces Start Here!
Jul 19th
OxjamBrum were lucky enough to be invited to a Xposed night at The Flapper on Thursday. They already donate regularly to Oxfam but also offered us the chance to come and paint people’s faces blue to promote the Hear&Now campaign.
Long Day Gone’s frontman really took to the idea of a blue face and thanks to Woody of TrippCobain Imaging for capturing the moment! We’ll be at more events across Birmingham soon painting faces, come and say hi!
Thanks to Friends of Faye as well, for being the blue face guinea pigs – sorry we didn’t get any shots of them!
Date Announced for Main Event
Jul 16th
Right folks! Keep Saturday 24 October free as it’s gonna be a day to remember across the city centre… stay tuned for more
