Oxjamming on the Outer Circle
Oct 6th
On Sunday 3rd October, OxjamBrum took-over Europe’s longest urban bus route, the number 11 bus in Birmingham, for an afternoon of live music all in aid of Oxfam. OxjamBrum, together with The Green Bus Company, navigated the outer circle picking up passengers and artists at 11 stops along the famous route.
Starting in Kings Heath, passengers hopped on board to the sounds of local Samba band Oya Batucada. During the next three hours, the bus made stops in some of Birmingham’s most interesting neighbourhoods to pick up Brum’s best musicians to play to the captive audience. Throughout the day passengers were treated to sets from James Rea, The Bluebeat Arkestra, Mellow Peaches, Tom Peel, Miss Halliwell, The Courtesy Group, Susan Dellane, Misty’s Big Adventure and a DJ set from Josh and Stuart from Tantrums.
The event sold out in a matter of days so for the unlucky people not able to get a ticket, OxjamBrum sponsors GotSeeN.com live streamed all the action from the bus to their website.
If you like the sound of OxjamBrum then you can come and see some of the artists fresh off the bus, plus many more on Saturday 16 October. For just £6 advance you can gain access to all 6 city centre venues throughout the day and night, checking out the best the Birmingham scene has to offer, whilst raising money for a great cause. Acts include Sunset Cinema Club, Tantrums, Malpas, Isolated Atoms, Arcadian Kicks, Vijay Kishore + many, many more. For the full lineup and to purchase tickets, please visit: www.oxjambrum.org.uk

Last week’s Brumcast (04-10-2010) on Rhubarb Radio was an OxjamBrum special featuring some of the artists that are playing this years Takeover. Listen again to the podcast, it’s a great way to get to know some of the bands.

This year OxjamBrum is proud to be sponsored by GotSeeN.com – a Birmingham based website which champions new and unsigned bands as well as streaming live gigs through their dedicated GotSeeN TV. GotSeeN.com will be streaming the Oxjam Takeover live from Island Bar meaning people across the world will be able to see why Birmingham has more to offer than Spaghetti Junction and Jasper Carrott.

Floods of Cash
Sep 15th
Thanks to everyone that came down to The Yardbird last night to raise money to help Oxfam with their aim to help 1 million people in Pakistan during the worst flooding in a generation.
The night kicked off with tunes from the Hamish & Friends live jazz band and some serious break dancing from JamFu. Performances from SmileyMic, a modern day one man band, creating loops live on stage, blah and blah all paved the way for outstanding sets from Birmingham’s illest hop-hop/funk collective and a special performance by award winning Jazz saxophonist and rapper – Soweto Kinch. Soweto managed a free-style improv about Pakistan and encouraged people to ‘put your money in the bucket’. Which they did. The night raised £650 for the Pakistan humanitarian disaster and set the tone for the rest of OxjamBrum events to come.
Check out the video from the night:

OxjamBrum M4TP Special at The Victoria
Sep 3rd

| WHERE: | Upstairs @ The Victoria (48 John Bright Street, Birmingham) |
| WHEN: | Friday 10th September, 8pm – 2am |
| PRICE: | FREE ENTRY |
September is going to be a special M4TP – we’re taking over M4TP.
We are going be the “People’s DJ’s” for September, on the decks from 8pm, playing all their best party tunes as well as tracks from the bands that will be performing at the main OxjamBrum Takeover event in October. We’ll also be recruiting volunteers to help out on the day, as well as waving a bucket or two about to take donations for what is a very good cause.
As ever, the M4TP crew will also be staggering around behind the decks – they’ll play anything you bring along and our giant jukebox will be available, to give you the tunes you want to hear. Although seeing as it’s all for charity they might just bump tracks up the running order if you’re generous when the collection bucket passes you by…
It’s going to be great, so save up your pennies, dig out your favourite tunes and put the date in your diary…

More people than the 2004 tsunami, the Pakistan earthquake in 2005, and the Haiti earthquake combined have been affected by the devastating floods in Pakistan. Oxfam are trying to reach 1 million if them to provide them with urgent clean water, sanitation and hygiene.
