OxjamBrum is gaining quite a reputation for gigs with a difference. Remember the bus? Well this year we are going one better – an evening of music and entertainment on a barge.

Come and join us as we navigate Brum’s canals starting at the mooring opposite the Canalside Café and travelling along Birmingham’s waterways. We will be making stops and collecting artists along the way.

Tickets are £15 which includes a pre-sail BBQ. Starting at 5pm and finishing back in Brum city centre at 9pm.

We are keeping our wonderful artists under wraps for the moment. However, you can expect the finest local musicians, once in a lifetime performances and a host with the most! Tickets are limited and we expect to sell out pretty quickly. All profits to Oxfam.

Thanks to everyone that came down to The Yardbird last night to raise money to help Oxfam with their aim to help 1 million people in Pakistan during the worst flooding in a generation.

The night kicked off with tunes from the Hamish & Friends live jazz band and some serious break dancing from JamFu. Performances from SmileyMic, a modern day one man band, creating loops live on stage, blah and blah all paved the way for outstanding sets from Birmingham’s illest hop-hop/funk collective and a special performance by award winning Jazz saxophonist and rapper – Soweto Kinch. Soweto managed a free-style improv about Pakistan and encouraged people to ‘put your money in the bucket’. Which they did. The night raised £650 for the Pakistan humanitarian disaster and set the tone for the rest of OxjamBrum events to come.

Check out the video from the night:

Come join us as we drive a full lap of Europe’s longest urban bus route on the infamous number 11. Starting at the Hare & Hounds we will set off on a tour of some of Birmingham’s most interesting neighbourhoods making 11 stops en route to pick up musical entertainment to perform on the bus. We’ll end up back at the Hare & hounds where The Soul Food project will be serving up a Sunday roast with a soul-full twist and a post-bus gig will be taking place in venue one with music from local legends Misty’s Big Adventure, Miss Haliwell and The Courtesey Group.

Tickets will cost, yep you guessed it, £11 (including bus ticket, food and entrance to the post-bus gig at the Hare & Hounds) and will be available from our online shop this Friday 17th September at 9am.

If you just want to join us for the after-bus party at the Hare & Hound’s for Misty’s, Miss Haliwell and The Courtesey Group tickets will cost just £4 in advance, also available from our online shop.

The Green Bus Company have kindly given us free use of one of their fleet for the day, for more information about The Green Bus visit www.thegreenbus.com. All of the fleet have on-board WiFi so we’re hoping our sponsor GotSeeN.com will be able to live stream the days entertainment from the bus too.

UPDATE

On Friday 25th June OxjamBrum and Blue Whale Studios presented an after work music and art event. We ate cake, drank coffee cocktails (cofftails!) and enjoyed music from Tom Peel, Marlem, Elisa Little and Alex Moir. We also had a demonstration in live T-shirt printing by our good friends at INKwell. A good time was had by all and we raised lots of money for Oxfam in the process.
